Spikenard is a flowering plant from the Valerianaceae family, native to the high-altitude regions of the Himalayas, typically growing at elevations between 3000 and 5000 meters. We source this valuable plant from the mountainous regions of Nepal, including areas in the far western and central parts. The plant typically reaches a height of about 1 meter and is renowned for its powerful sedative properties. It is highly regarded for its restorative effects on hair loss and color restoration, as well as its benefits for complexion, strength, and treating conditions such as spasmodic hysteria, nervous convulsions, headaches, and epilepsy. Spikenard oil is widely used in perfumes, incense, and herbal medicine, particularly for its calming and therapeutic effects, including aiding insomnia and birth difficulties. The harvesting season for Spikenard spans from October to December.
