Artemisia vulgaris L., belonging to the Compositae family, is a plant that can grow up to 2 meters in height. It is found throughout Nepal, especially in high-altitude regions between 300 to 3,000 meters, including the sub-alpine and mid-hills. We source Artemisia from areas situated at higher elevations, particularly in the higher mid-hills and lower sub-alpine zones. The essential oil is extracted through steam distillation of the plant’s leaves, buds, and flowering tops. Artemisia oil is highly valued for its therapeutic properties, such as its anthelmintic effects, which expel parasitic worms, and its antispasmodic qualities, which provide relief from muscle spasms. The harvesting season occurs from August to November.
