Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus), locally known as Masala, belongs to the Myrtaceae family and is an evergreen tree native to Australia. Typically growing between 35 to 55 meters in height, it thrives in lower altitudes. In Nepal, we source Eucalyptus from the southern lowlands, particularly in regions within the Terai. The essential oil is extracted through steam distillation of the leaves. Eucalyptus oil is highly valued for its medicinal and aromatherapy benefits, providing mental clarity and calmness. It is effective for treating respiratory conditions and soothing skin inflammations. Additionally, the oil possesses therapeutic, antimicrobial, perfume, flavoring, and bio-pesticide properties. The harvesting season spans from April to December, with multiple harvests possible during this period.
