German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita), is a annual herb in the Asteraceae family. It’s also recognized as a star among medicinal species. Chamomile is a flowering plant that grows up to 3 feet tall and is native to Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia. German chamomile essential oil is extracted by steam distilling the flowers. The small daisy-like flowers of German Chamomile are less than an inch across and have white collars circling elevated, cone-shaped, yellow centers. They grow on long, thin, light green stems.
Its harvesting season is from February to April.
