
Cedrus deodara, commonly known as Deodara, belongs to the family Pinaceae. This majestic evergreen coniferous tree can reach heights of about 40 meters and is predominantly found across Nepal, particularly at altitudes ranging from 1,100 to 2,900 meters. We source it from the central Himalayan region, Deodara holds cultural significance, with names like “Himalayan cedar” and “devdar,” reflecting its revered place in local traditions. Cedarwood oil is extracted through steam distillation from the wood of this remarkable tree. The harvesting season for Deodara takes place from March to July. Known for its calming and grounding properties, cedarwood oil is a popular choice in aromatherapy, promoting relaxation and reducing stress.
