Turmeric leaves, derived from Curcuma longa of the Zingiberaceae family, are vibrant green with an oblong-lanceolate shape, tapering gracefully at the base. These petiolate leaves can grow up to 45 cm in length and have smooth edges. When crushed, they release a mild, earthy fragrance, making them an integral ingredient in traditional Nepali cuisine. The leaves are often used to flavor dishes like steamed rice and curries, infusing them with a unique aroma and taste. Beyond their culinary significance, turmeric leaves are celebrated for their medicinal properties, aiding digestion and strengthening immunity. In Nepal, turmeric is cultivated extensively in the Terai region. Our sourcing regions include areas in the south-central and southeastern lowlands. The harvesting season spans from January to March, when the plant reaches full maturity, ensuring the best quality leaves for culinary and therapeutic use.
