Ginger (Zingiber officinale), a flowering plant from the Zingiberaceae family, is widely cultivated in Nepal. We source it primarily from the regions located in the eastern lowlands and subtropical zones, where the plant thrives. Growing up to 1 meter in height, ginger features narrow green leaves and yellowish flowers. Renowned for its pungent and spicy flavor, ginger is a staple in both culinary and medicinal practices. It is harvested in November-December, 8–10 months after planting, and is highly valued for its therapeutic properties, making it a cornerstone of traditional medicine for centuries.
