Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus), is a perennial grass that can reach heights of 10.5 meter and is native to Sri-Lanka, Nepal, Thailand and Burma. Nowadays it is also cultivated in the West Indies, Africa and Tropical Asia.
Lemongrass essential oil is produced by the steam distillation of freshly cut leaves and can be extracted by using alcohol. It helps in stress-related disorders, and it was found to have antifungal and antimicrobial properties. It also can be used in bath for soothing muscular nerves and pains.
Its harvesting season is from March to October.
